A silicon passive photonic integrated circuit (PIC) enables RF true-time-delay (TTD) beamforming for high-throughput Ka-band satellite antennas. This system simplifies antenna hardware by replacing complex electrical controls with remote wavelength-selective beam steering and frequency up-conversion. By integrating RF-over-fiber capabilities on a single chip, this photonic approach offers a scalable, low-SWaP solution for future satellite communication payloads.
