Stellar observations are used to monitor the long-term health and detector response degradation of the Metis coronagraph on the Solar Orbiter. Continuous tracking of sensitivity changes ensures the reliability of data regarding solar wind acceleration and coronal mass ejections. This monitoring is vital for maintaining accurate plasma measurements despite repeated exposure to harsh interplanetary radiation.
