The TURBO facility utilizes an autonomous Shack-Hartmann Image Motion Monitor (SHIMM) to provide 24-hour continuous monitoring of atmospheric turbulence. By characterizing integrated parameters such as coherence time, isoplanatic angle, and the Fried parameter, the system enables reliable nowcasting for free-space optical communications. This data is critical for site selection and building resilient networking strategies against dynamic atmospheric interference.
