The Exoplanet Explorer mission concept utilizes a single-spacecraft nulling interferometer to characterize the atmospheres of nearby rocky planets. By searching for mid-infrared biosignatures, the system aims to provide direct evidence of potential life beyond our solar system. This architecture simplifies the traditional formation-flying approach while maintaining the high-contrast imaging capability required for detecting Earth-like candidates.
