MERLIN is the first European IPDA lidar mission dedicated to global methane monitoring, designed to provide high-precision spatial and temporal flux gradients. The payload utilizes a bi-static optical configuration in a compact, passively thermally controlled design to meet strict mission constraints. This mission represents a critical step in quantifying greenhouse gas emissions for climate policy applications.
