The CHARM-F airborne demonstrator validates the MERLIN mission's IPDA lidar technology for global methane flux measurement. By providing independent, sunlight-insensitive measurements of dry air mixing ratios, the system fills critical data gaps in cloud-covered and high-latitude regions. This end-to-end testing ensures that the spaceborne instrument can effectively reduce uncertainties in the global methane budget.
