All-optical relaying using amplifiers provides a scalable, low-latency alternative to regenerative relays for high-speed inter-satellite networks. The research evaluates signal-to-noise ratio degradation and nonlinear distortions within watt-class fiber amplifiers in high link-loss environments. These findings help define the transmission limits and capacity of multi-hop, all-optical satellite communication architectures.
