The ALASCA project validates an advanced monostatic adaptive optics system using a 589 nm sodium laser guide star for GEO optical feeder links. This system real-time corrects atmospheric turbulence by sensing distortions along the same optical path used for the uplink signal. Field testing at the Tenerife Optical Ground Station confirms the effectiveness of this pre-compensation architecture in mitigating atmospheric fading for high-data-rate satellite links.
