To scale space-based free-space optical throughput toward Tbps, this research evaluates the application of Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM). While coherent coding has maximized single-line capacity, increasing channel count offers a path to higher total throughput without prohibitive per-line power requirements. This study investigates the integration of space-qualified, high-power components to overcome the fading and thermal challenges inherent in trans-atmospheric communication links.
