Photonic crystal nanostructures are utilized to create compact, high-performance spectropolarimeters for space-based remote sensing. By engineering refractive indices at the wavelength scale, these structures exploit photonic band gaps and Fano resonances to manipulate light based on both wavelength and polarization. This technology significantly reduces instrument volume and weight while maintaining superior spectral and polarimetric sensitivity.
