The Smartt Wavefront Sensor, based on point diffraction interferometry, provides robust phase estimation in strong atmospheric turbulence compared to traditional Shack-Hartmann sensors. By mitigating the effects of scintillation, this sensor maintains accurate wavefront reconstruction for adaptive optics in FSO systems. This technology significantly improves the Strehl ratio by providing more stable control in the presence of dynamic link fluctuations.
