RF magnetron sputtering is utilized to develop high-performance infrared optical coatings within the 4.5-14 µm range. This technique facilitates the production of dense, environmentally stable thin films without requiring high substrate temperatures. By enabling precise control over intrinsic film stress, the process prevents delamination and enhances the mechanical durability of coatings on sensitive materials like ZnS and ZnSe.
