The RAINBOW payload integrates structured linear variable bandpass filters directly onto a detector surface to achieve a compact hyperspectral imaging solution for smart farming. By employing filter-on-chip technology, the design meets the demand for high-resolution multispectral data in a cost-efficient form factor suitable for small satellites. This integration strategy simplifies the optical chain while enabling critical agricultural data collection in the 0.4 to 1.7 µm range.
