The Aerosol Limb Imager (ALI) is a multi-spectral polarimetric imager designed to profile aerosols and clouds in the upper troposphere and stratosphere. By combining limb-scattered sunlight measurements with high-accuracy polarimetry, the instrument discriminates between aerosol types and determines particle size distributions. This capability significantly improves our ability to quantify the climate impacts of volcanic and wildfire-generated aerosols.
