The Heliospheric Imager features a specialized Front Baffle designed to suppress direct solar stray light for the detection of faint coronal mass ejections. By achieving irradiance suppression down to 10⁻¹⁵ B0, the instrument enables high-sensitivity monitoring of the solar corona. This design optimization ensures reliable performance in the challenging radiation environment at the L5 Lagrange point.
