This Rydberg-atom sensing platform provides an all-optical, high-sensitivity method for detecting microwave and millimeter-wave signals. By mapping electromagnetic fields onto optical carriers via highly excited atomic states, it bypasses the thermal noise constraints of traditional semiconductor amplifiers. This technology enables portable, high-performance radiometry without the need for cryogenic cooling.
