Sentinel 4 is a unique geostationary UV-VIS-NIR imaging spectrometer designed for continuous operational trace gas monitoring. The instrument achieves high spectral resolution across ultraviolet, visible, and near-infrared bands, providing hourly observation of atmospheric chemistry over Europe. Successful in-orbit verification of the Proto-Flight-Model confirms the instrument’s thermal and optical performance for long-term climate applications.

Spotlight

MTG-S1 commissioning completed in July 2026 with Sentinel-4 aboard, so this presentation should contain very current in-orbit verification evidence plus recurrent-model calibration lessons.
