This work analyzes radiometric uncertainties in hyperspectral push-broom imagers caused by the common assumption that spatial and spectral responses are independent. It demonstrates that for non-uniform scenes, this simplification introduces significant measurement errors in L2 data products. The study advocates for improved instrument characterization and trade-off analysis during early mission planning to address these limitations in the absence of complex slit homogenizers.
