The Infrared Sounder on MTG-S employs a straylight model to account for internal reflections and scattering inherent in its Michelson interferometer-based design. Because straylight causes spectral radiance errors through interferogram phase mixing, a comprehensive model was developed to back-propagate and correct these parasitic signals. This approach ensures high-fidelity thermal infrared data delivery from geostationary orbit for international weather centers.
