This study proposes a telescope array architecture that uses optical selection combining to mitigate signal fading caused by atmospheric turbulence. By utilizing a fast optical switch to select the best signal from uncorrelated pathways, the system provides a hardware-efficient alternative to complex digital MIMO combining. This spatial diversity approach effectively reduces link outage probabilities in high-speed free-space optical communications.
